Winter Sale

Spring is in the air, well even if for us in Quebec, Canada, we still have at least a month before we can see a difference. That is the usual winter that we have. Although, i must say that february has been somewhat mild. Much milder than usual. And we do not have that much snow either. Maybe Mother Nature is playing games with us, maybe we will end up having another big snow storm before the end of winter. We are used to having such surprises.
For the past week, my fingers have been feeling itchy for doing some spring themed projects. I want to make some cheery curtains for my studio, i want to make some summer flowery totes and romantic scarves in spring colors.

Art Doll Quarterly

I have been feeling a little low and depressed for the last couple days. Personnal matters i am trying to put behind, but i have to admit it is not as easy as i would hope it to be. I am slowly turning the page, i hate feeling sorry for myself and i am finding comfort with the love of my daughters, dearest hubby and my work. I feel privileged to be self-employed even if it means hard work and having to deal with the up and downs of a tight budget.

This morning i went to the post office to pick up the mail and ship out some orders i sold from my shop And guess what i found, waiting for me in the box ??!! The new issue of Art Doll Quarterly !!! I got a free copy because my little Muffinpies are being featured ! I was eager to get back home and see how my page looked like. I am really happy, but especially proud, as my daughter Geneviève is also being featured !
Now isn't that wonderful ? having the chance to be featured in a magazine along with my daughter really added a balm of happiness to my poor little sore ♥
I have several Muffinpies waiting to be adopted in my shop if you wish to have one now and in a couple weeks, i intend to create a new batch and make one for my little Noodle winner ! ^_^

I haven't been much around during the christmas holidays and i would like to thank those who took the time to come here and wish me a merry holiday season. As soon a i have a minute, i will go and visit you and your lovely blogs.

Christmas is approaching at a fast pace and we are all getting ready for this beautiful celebration. Soon the snow will fall and decorations will be put out . My favorite moment is when we go cut our tree. It is a family tradition we have kept for many years.

The weather is changing rapidly in my country and i know it will probably snow very shortly. I woke up this morning looking out to a grey chilly day and thought to myself " this is it! I MUST plant my tulips now. "
So i put on my warm jacket, old boots and out i went. It ook me a little more than an hour to plant over 70 bulbs. Satisfied, having completed my mission, i thought i deserved a good cuppa tea and some crochet time.

I will be dreaming all winter, wondering what surprise my tulips will bring to me.

I am back

After being away for almost five weeks, i am happy to be home. My trip to France was wonderful ! So many lovely villages we discovered, so many sweet peole we met.

The Gers is in the south west of France and hubby and i just fell in love with their big rolling hills, its people with their lovely accent, the peacefulness and the wonderful weather.

Little villages with flowers everywhere, rosemary and lavender looking like big bushes, not tiny plants like the ones i have home. Fig trees growing everywhere, just like a weed ! I could actually walk in a street and pick one along the way. They were delectable !!

Since we have been home, we've been quite busy just trying to get to our normal life. Not an easy task, but i was happy to see my home and family. I am just missing my daughter Geneviève who is in Brussels. It was so good to spend some time with her. I wish i could show you more, but it would take forever. Just needed to come here and let you know how wonderful my vacation in France was. I will be back sometime next week, hopefully, cause i'd love to make another giveaway. I just need to sort things out and see what will be the surprised.

sailing and crochet

Summer is nearing to it's end, i can feel it in the air even if we still have warm and sunny days. Hubby and i were spending several days at the boat last week end and we had a wonderful time doing a little sailing and swimming in the lake. Monday, as you can see, was grey, windy and a bit on the chilly side. I loved sitting on the dock, working on my giant granny blanket, admiring the view, watching the flock of ducks and and the heron couple flying close by. Autumn is almost here and i am already feeling the nostalgy of long lazy summer days.

I am almost done with my blanket and i just love the wonderful colors. It is big and heavy and feels super cozy. I will be posting next week with some new pictures. In the meantime, i must start packing ang get ready for a new week end of sailing....and crocheting a new project ?

Hello my dearies ♥ As i mentioned in a former post, i am taking part of the giant granny challence ( see sidebar for details ) . I am now up to 44 rows. I crochet whenever i have the time, mostly in the evening when i watch some TV with hubby. This is such a fun crochet project and it is going to make a wonderful and cozy blanket when the weather starts to get cooler. With our short summer season, it should not be long.

I am enjoying the wonderful days of our short summer. i roam in my garden and smile with delight over the burst of colors.

I almost thought i had lost this pot of annuals as i came back from my little sailing get away. The poor thiing was all dried up. I chopped it, fed it and with lots of watering, she is blooming again !

I bought this gorgeous peony daylily last week Isn't she dainty ?

Willl i be sailing again this week end ? Oh, the joy of being barefoot!

summer time

It's been a while since my last visit here. My life has been like a whirlwind and i have to admit i am feeling over tired. Hubby and i are leaving friday for a week of sailing and although i feel a bit sad to leave home, this little vacation is going to do me good. We are heading to Brockville, a lovely town in Ontario. We will be staying at the municipal marina and will spend our days swimming, going for bicycle rides, eating fish and chips, and rest,rest. I am bringing some books and magazines to read and of course, yarn, yarn, to do some crochet or knitting.

Here are some pictures of things i have been doing for a craft event, which, by the way, turned out to be a total disaster. I just felt out of place, even the people passed by booth without even glancing.I seriously wondered if people were either blind, or maybe i was just invisible...I felt sad, but at least i know i am not going back there. I listed some of the things you see here in my shop today and i already sold 2 items !

What a relief. My shop has been very, very quiet for the past month. I was starting to worry a bit. These 2 sales cheered me up a bit, i must admit. Well, well, i will not linger here too long, as i have to go fix dinner. I just wanted to pop in and let you know i was still alive. Seems like everytime i come here is simply to let you know i am not dead yet.
I miss taking the time to visit your lovely blogs, will do so when i come back. I want to take some time off and enjoy our summer, which is so short here. Of course, I will still work in my sewing room, gotta keep that etsy shop rollin' . I just want to slow down a bit. I need to recharge my batteries.

Birthday gift

I knew hubby was up to something, 'cause he kept running down to his own " atelier " every day as he came back from work. There was even a chair in front of the closed door to keep me from peeking.. Could not help but smile. As though a chair would keep me from opening the door. But i love surprises, so i did not peek, i waited patiently, wondering, but having a little clue it could be what i had been asking, wishing and dreaming for so long. Hubby managed to leave me speechless. Never, would i have beleived i could have a cutting table such as this one ! He made the table for me?! He even went as far as searching for a cutting mat big enough to fit the table. Now what can i say to that ? Oh my, oh my, were the only words i kept mumbling stupidly. I had one of those grin on my face and just kept looking, admiring, touching, already thinking of all the projects i would be doing sitting on this table. Now, am i spoiled rotten or what ?!

Birthday and giveaway

I cannot beleive a whole month went by since my last post. I do apologize for such long silence, i do hope some of you did not think i was kidnapped by some E.T. fellows.No, no! I am still here ! I know i do not have many excuses even if i was so busy with my sewing and family matters, All of us have busy schedules and many of you, wonderful ladies, find time to take care of your lovely blogs So i am bending on my knees and ask for your forgiveness...No? this is not enough ?.............ok......Let's say...What if i make a giveaway? will you guys forgive me ? Peleaaaaaazzzzzzz ? .....Still pouting eh?...hum....You know what ? tomorrow is my birthday and since i am so spoiled rotten, hubby and daughter Maude ( Anne is gone on a stage for her coast guard summer job ) are going to sing me " Happy birthday " tonight ! And i am not really sure what hubby is up to, but he's been hiding something in his "atelier " and ordered me not to go peek. Every day of this week, as he returned from work, he would run down in the basement. I tried to listen...But silence. o_o.... What is he up to ? I have a clue, but i may be wrong, so i will let you know next week.
Now! we are up for some serious matters. This giveaway thing is for real. Since it is my birthday tomorrow, i thought to myself " what better way to celebrate than to make a giveaway ? and maybe get achance to be forgiven ? "

loving to make bags

On March 2010, ( a year ago already ) i quit my part time job. It was a difficult decision, but in the end it was a good thing for me to leave this place. The job was hard, the pay was awful and i had to get up at 3am every morning. I still wonder sometimes if i made the right move. Not having a regular pay check is not always easy thing. I had to reajust my budget and gave my old car to younger daughter. Hubby works close by, so if i need to keep the car, that is not a problem for me. One thing you learn when you have a tight budget is to hunt for bargains.

There is a charity shop in a nearby town and at first i was on the look out mainly for china and other little decoration stuff until i started to look at a stash of wool and grabbed the whole bunch and then the bedding sheets and then ideas started to flow in my head. I found some really beautiful ones and some of them found a new life and became totes and pillow covers. I realized that creating with something old brings me a lot of satisfaction and i quickly became a real fan of charity shops.

One of the things i really love doing are tote bags of all sizes. I made this one with a bed sheet i found several weeks ago. I loved it so much when i layed my eyes on her, i grabbed it before someone did. I knew right away i would be making a bag out of it. I still have enough fabric left to make many more. Do you love tote bags as much as i do ?

Sewing Mends...

I was visiting Anna's lovely blog while having my morning coffee. Her post title said "sewing mends." I had to comment on this because i do so relate to that. After breakfast, i was doing some hand stitching, finishing some new Matryoshkas and i thought to myself how good, how relaxing this moment brought me. I love using my sewing machine, but the handstitching is ( i think ) more therapeutic.I tend to lose myself in my own little world and nothing else seem to exist, except for the stillness, the silence inside my home. I love being by myself.
Creating nourishes my soul and eases daily tension. This week, i made 6 new Matryoshkas. I just listed 3 in my shop, the others will have to wait their turn until i am completely done with the handstitching. Maybe i just need to extend the pleasure a little bit more ?

summer tote

I made several summer totes during the month of March. I love doing totes and wish to make more. This one was made using vintage bed sheets i found in a nearby charity shop.
As you can see, i adorned the back using a piece of linen and a lovely tape handmade by wonderful Anna Barrow of Lillalotta. I have a considerable collection of her charming tapes, but will undoubtedly buy more. Did you see her new collection ? It is to die for !
This tote is still in my shop. New ones will come later.

Little clay house....How i love thee ♥

Yesterday, i worked on new Muffinpies all day and all evening, some of them being custom orders. I am hoping to be listing them today. It has been a while since i made Muffinpies for my shop. I still lovedoing them, that is not the problem. But i am more in the mood to make different things such as tote bags, crochet items and pillows. I still don't know what and when i will be listing some of my new projects. I also have to make items for a craft event i am going to attend in June. So a lot of work ahead of me. I went to bed at 10:30pm, exhausted and not even taking the time to shower. I woke up very early this morning, made coffee, light the fire to warm the house and off to the shower. Boy, this felt so good. Now, i am ready for a good day's work, as soon as i am done with this post. I need to finish a few little things on my dolls before i can list them. I was hoping to do this last night, alas, but my bed was calling me and i could not resist.

Now, my main reason for posting this morning was that i wanted to talk to you about a sweet, adorable lady who makes beautiful little clay house. Rodi has a magical little etsy shop. I bought my first 2 houses before christmas and fell in love with them. I am saving every little penny i earn for a coming trip to Europe, so i " vowed " i would behave and not spend unless i really need some supplies for my work. But honestly, do you think this is easy to resist that long ? A couple weeks ago, i visited her shop. Just wanted to peek and admire i vowed once again...But then, i saw that little house with the red roof and before i could understand what was happening to me, my finger clicked on "add to cart". By the time i "woke up ". i had already paid for my purchase. 0_0.... So i guess i cannot be held responsible, huh ? I think i was hypnotized by a magical spell...

Seriously, you really should go and i dare you to just have a look. ^_^ Rodi has a very creative mind, her little clay houses are the sweetest thing. I am going to get some more...( i know, i know ! i have to save my pennies ) But i intend to slowly build a little village of them. I think they will make a lovely decoration in my studio. And i think they would look awesome in your home too ! They are so very affordable, so why don't you just indulge ? i know they will make you happy. I have my sewing machine close by andeveryday, as i sew happily, i look at them and i smile. Thanks so much Rodi for your kindness and for sharing some sweetness to the world.

In my previous post, i talked to you about my chicken coop. Some of you asked to see them, so may i present you my three ladies. Alice is the black colored hen, not very friendly, but then, maybe she is just a little shy.The brown ones are the twins, Gwen and Barbara. Please, do not ask me who is who, they look so much the same, i could not tell who is Barb and who is Gwen.. Maybe i should make a little different scarf for each of them ? It crossed my mind once, but i am not sure they would appreciate the idea.. Now, you must be wondering who is that little yellow ducky. If you have a little moment, then sit and read the little story.

Little ducky is a school project and Andrea of faded plains asked me if i was interested to greet little ducky and introduce him to new friends. The idea of the school project is for the ducky to travel to different places around the globe. All we need to do is write a little note of what he did while he was visiting , include a coin of our country and send ducky back to Andrea or to someone else who wants to have him home. The most important thing is that he must return to the US before may 1st. If you need to know more about this fun project, please, do contact me and i can give further details. Little ducky enjoyed his stay here, but he is already eager to travel to a new place. Anyone interested ? It can be anywhere around the globe except to the US ( sorry US readers. )

Barbara and Gwen were prety curious to see this little fellow stranger wandering in their coop and inspecting the freshly laid eggs. Alice did not mind him at all. Having chickens around is not much trouble. All you need to do is keep their coop clean and make sure they have fresh water and food at all times.I give them grains and leftover greens, even bits of bread. Every morning , they hear me come and wait impatiently at the door to see if i have something for them. They love it when i bring little surprises.

Well, that's it for today my lovelies. I wish i had more to tell you, but i am fighting a very bad chest cold and i need to lay down a bit. I hate feeling so sick, there is so much i need to do, but i am lacking the energy. I hope i will be feeling a little better tomorrow.

Boring or not boring ?

Every morning, that is, when i am home alone. ( tuesday to friday hubby is at work ) i like to sit in front of the computer with my hot cup of comforting coffee. I check my messages, email back to etsy customers, look at some lovely blogs and if i feel inspired, will post a message in my own blog. I realize i haven't done this for at least 2 weeks...Or is it more than 2 weeks ? I have come, i have looked at the blank page of the new message section , i meant to post something, But it seems i have nothing to say...Is my life so boring ? I must admit i spend most of my days at home, working in my studio until hubby returns from work. Other than sewing, i make the laundry, vaccum, wash the dishes, cook dinner, learn to crochet, knit, run to my daughter who lives right behind my house, give a hug to baby Jacob while Molly, the boxer doggie, is begging for me to hug her too.... Oh and i feed the hens in my chicken coop. Hubby and i built a little shed last fall ( did i mention this before ? ) with the main idea to have a few hens. ( or do we say chicken ? ) Hubby was so excited, he could not wait until spring and came home one day with 2 brown hens. Daughter Anne decided to name them Barbara and Gwendolyn. Very curious ladies. And then a couple of months later, a friend gave him a black hen. Daughter Anne decided this would be Alice. Unlike the other two,she is not the friendly type. And she has not begun laying eggs. I told hubby she may be too young, we have to be patient. The weather is milder and snow is melting. I have opened their coop for them to wander outside in their own closed little yard. They love being outdoors . I guess they too were feeling depressed with this never ending winter. The starlings have arrived and this is the very first positive sign that winter is behind us already. There is still a lot of snow, but i can see little patches of grass here and there. I made a bet with hubby that on march 31st, we will be able to set up the garden chairs on the terrace. I hope i am right, otherwise i will have to sneek outside and shovel. o_o No, no , enough of that shoveling. I want to dig and play in the flowers. I planted a few dadoffils bulbs a friend gave me and i am eager to see what they will look like this spring. Unless the squirrels digged them out, i am hoping i may see a few flowers. I promise myself to plant tulips next fall. I used to have a lovely patch of pastel colored tulips in my former home and it was very lovely. We have been in our new house for almost 3 years now. Creating new bed flowers take time...Funny, i came here this morning because i felt in the mood to post some of my etsy favorites. After all, i managed to write something that doesn't appear too boring. Or so i hope. I have to go now, daughter Maude and i are going to do some shopping. Hubby's birthday is this sunday and i need to get a few little things.

Beating the winter Blues

Winter is still very present in my cold country and i am ( or shall i say, we are ) feeling the winter blues. People here are starting to complain. Lacking of energy, we are in great need of sunshine and a bit of warmth. Last friday, we had a beautiful 8 celcius with sunny skies. I almost lost my mind, opening my studio door and shoveling snow off my little balcony. Little birdies were happyly chirping and feeding on sunflower seeds i gladly give them everyday.
This birdie picture was taken this morning as i woke up to a grey thursday. Very different from last friday.
I spent most of my free time ( whenever i am not sewing muffinpies ) knitting mittens by the dozen. I bought some beautiful yarn from several etsy shops this winter . I would love to list several pairs in my own shop, as soon as i can grab my younger daughter and use her as my model. despite the fact that i am longing for spring to be here, my love of knitting is still very present. Even in the summer, you will find me sitting in the shade , doing some knitting projects .

Last week, i found some great vintage bedding sheets in a thrift store. Even my daughter was surprised at how nice they looked. Very shabby and romantic. I am going to make some decorative pillows for my new bedroom to be. Spring is in the air, even if there is still snow And more will come, no doubt. We all have this urge to refresh, clean and decorate our homes.

I am longing for spring to arrive. We still have a lot of snow and today is a sunny but cold -14c. A day to spend indoors, sewing, cooking and knitting. I made a couple new little fabric house from my " Petite House " series and just listed them in my shop
I love their cheery fabric. It adds a little bit of greeny spring happiness in my home.

We live near a river. In the summer, we can cross the river on a ferry. In winter, when the river feezes hard, there is an ice bridgel

It was very mild and the snow was falling gently. We had a big snowfall during the night. We did not expect so much snow.
We are eager to smell the first signs of spring, but we will have to be patient. All this snow will take a while to melt. In the meantime, we can always enjoy the beauty of winter.

It has been a very tough week due to very heavy periods and lots of muffinpies to make, most being custom orders. i am almost done with the orders, i just need to finish a few details on each of them. I managed to list 3 in my shop today. I know i will have to make more, starting next week. I just wanted to show you this happy bunch and also take a little moment and wish you all a happy week end. For my part, i will try to go outside, probably go skiing . It is suppose to be mild and sunny, i need some sun vitamins . ^-^

Snow sparkles !

Yesterday, we were hit by our very first snowstorm. I was not expecting one, it is hubby who told me on tuesday evening when he saw me sulking again as i was watching the news. The US was going through another blizzard, a big one. I complained it was not fair, we in Quebec, should be the ones to go through this. We are used to having heavy snowfall...Hum, some of you reading this will " she nuts or what ? " I guess i am, in fact, i know i am. Even hubby reminds me everyday. ^-^ I love summers best, but i live in the north country, where winters are long and harsh. I just can't help it, i love snowstorm. The wind was howling and the snow was drifting all over in big swirls, it was very beautiful. This morning, i went for a walk to the post office. Had some packages to ship. It was sunny and perfect. The air today is crisp and the snow is sparkling. I was in a happy mood. And to make things even better, i had my free copy of Art doll quaterly waiting for me !

Months ago, i was contacted by magazine editor Jana Holstein to let me know i would be featured in their next issue. I was pretty excited and here is the result of the little article about Carlos and Svetlana. I am not sure if the magazine is out yet, as copies sent by mail are always shipped before the magazine hits the stands. I owe this chance of being featured to my wonderful daughter Geneviève who gave me a few painting lessons. i still need to work hard to be as talented as she is. I have emailed Jana to give her my thanks and also to tell her to consider my daughter's work in a future publication of ADQ. She deserves that much recognition. Crossing my fingers.
I must get back to my sewing. Many custom orders await me, the vacuuming, dirty dishes piling up in the sink, bed still not made and the driveway who will need more shoveling before hubby's back from work.

warm mittens for cold winters

After much thought, i decided to list several pair of handknit mittens in my shop . I love to knit mittens, i coud knit all day long. But my main work is to make dolls and the demand is great. So whenever i have a little free time i pick up my DPN's and knit a pair ferociously. I thought i would keep those for myself, but i know i can make some more. Well, at least i have a reason to. ^-^

My new sewing machine !

After a whole month home, hubby went back to work yesterday. Every christmas, he is off for two weeks, but had to stay home another two more because of back and neck problems. He's been having back problems for many years and being a lineman for hydro doesn't help. But i must say here that during his 2 weeks holidays, he worked too hard renovating our bedroom. I told him to slow down, that he had all winter, but hubby's a pig head...And he hurt his back...again...humph...Me was mad, cause he never listen until he realizes he should have. He always tells me " i hate to say you were right. " and i reply: " i am a woman, i am always right. " Teehee ! Poor hubby, he lives in a woman's world, no guys in the house except him. Even the cat is a she. So sometimes i must let him beleive he is a fine good rooster. Awww, i am so mean...I can't help it, i love to tease him.
So.... Need i tell you the house was really quiet and empty yesterday ? I should have been happy, having the house to myself and going back to my sewing is something i was longing for. But i missed my little boy. I did nothing but roam around the house and knit. I have tons of orders to complete, there is not much time for knitting. So i must push myself to go back in my sewing room. Guess i need time to get back to my routine.
The christmas season was very nice and cozy this year. Despite hubby's desire to tear down walls, i had time to take things easy, go for walks and do some knitting. I had many lovely gifts from everyone and hubby even surprised me with a new sewing machine ! I had an old basic one and was dreaming of having something with more stitch patterns. So imagine my joy when he offered me the singer fashion mate ! 70 stitch patterns, oh my !!! I was so happy, my face was gleaming when i saw him coming to me with the the big box. It works so perfectly, so smoothly, she hums so happily compared to my oldie. Poor thing, she has been working so hard for so many years. I will send her for a good tune up and give it to young daughter Anne. I know my old machine will give her many hours of happy sewing and creating.

sick Hubby at home

It is almost 11pm and the house is quiet...Well, except for hubby's snores that is... I finally managed to get the computer to myself. Hubby is still home for the rest of the week. He was off work for 2 weeks and he worked like crazy redoing a new bedroom for us. I told him we had all winter, that he should take it easy, but there was nothing i could do or say until he hurt his mack so much so that he had to go to the clinic on tuesday. Doctor gave him painkillers and the rest of the week off. So he spends his days sitting in front of the computer searching for the perfect wallpaper fr our bedroom.

i will make this a short post. My main reason to come here was to wish ALL of you a very Happy New year. I hope it will be filled with lots of love, health and many happy moments. Thank you so much to all of you who sent me such wonderful christmas cards. They adorned my living and dining area in a place where i could admire them everyday. I cherish these special treasures.

My swap present

In early fall, i entered a pillow swap organized by 2 great dutch sisters.
I was really happy to be part of that swap and lucky to have Corry as my partner. A few days ago, i received my surprise and i was all Aaaaaaahhhh's and Ooooooohhhh's admiring the beautiful work she had done. I am still in awe before such beautiful work, my pillow was nothing compared to what she had created for me. I hope she is happy with her present, for my part, i am so delighted. She even included some lovely cheery fabric and a gorgeous market bag.
I took more pictures that i wanted to show you, but my cam is playing tricks with me and i could only upload those 2 pictures. Hubby will fix it for me and will show more later. I have an old blue velvet chair in my sewing room and my pillow matches perfectly. I feel so lucky, so spoiled, Corry, how can i ever thank you ? you are so so talented, your needlework and crochet skills are lovely, adorable, perfect, thank you a zillion times, i will cherish this treasure forever ♥

Tuesday...through the winter window part 3

I woke up early this morning to light a a fire in the fireplace. At 6:45am it was still dark as i took a picture of our little shed. It has been snowing for over 2 days. I am happy because the forecast was calling for rain. I decorated my christmas tree yesterday while listening to old bing Crosby's " White Christmas ". The cat was sleeping nearby and would sometimes look at me and make that funny sound. She does that when she feels happy and cozy. I took these pictures to play with Julie at " tuesday through the window. " You can play too , click on the link for details... I think this is a perfect day for knitting and dreaming.

Tuesday...through the winter window part 2

I woke up early this morning to find it was very windy and snowing. It is not a thick snow, but only gentle snowflakes falling. Christmas is in the air and i love this moment where you start to decorate your home, bake, shop, wrap, dream... This week end we will go cut the christmas tree. It is in a tree farm and we have been going there for many years now. It is going to be fun especially that little Jacob is with us. He is much too young to realize what christmas is all about, but bringing him with us will be wonderful. Still missing my daughter who is in Brussels. I miss her even more at this time of year.
I had my christmas event this week end and yesterday, hubby and i painted the whole living room. I am very tired, so i pray that you will find some understanding and wait one more day for the draw. Tomorrow, promise, i will announce the winner of my giveaway.

I was babysitting little Jacob yesterday and he was sleeping soundly on the couch as i was fixing dinner in the kitchen and keeping an eye on him. Daughter Anne ( auntie Anne ) cuddled next to him and took pictures with her cell phone. I was amazed at the results. This picture of them both is so beautiful, so moving, i will have to make a copy and frame it...

Winifred and Alastair Forestlings

I love mice, i think they are tiny lovely creators and even if they can be a nuisance sometimes, i still love them. I remember many years ago, in my former old country house, a little forestling hid beneath the cook range. I often settled at the kitchen table to make my crafts and once in a while, i would see her come nibble a piece of butter whenever i left on butter dish uncovered. I would of course scold her gently and she would flee back under the range,but came back several minutes later to beg for a little more. I know some would be shock to read this ( mice are dirty and filled with bacteria ) and i did not encourage her to come back. Hubby eventually put some mice traps and i sadly heard the trap catch them in the end. It's not easy being a mice.
But this is a diffrent story for Alastair and Winifred. These mice are unoffensive and live in a magical forest, away from dangerous traps.

Aaaahhh, Rosemary

I always grew a patch of herbs. Rosemary,chives, parsley,beebalm,thymes,mint,savory,sage,coriander and oh, the so glorious basil ( see post in september ). I think if a had to choose between gardening with herbs or flowers, my heart would bend towards their heavenly smell and for the variety of uses they so gladly offer. I love to cook with them because they add so much flavor to foods. But herbs can also be used for medicinal purposes and they make great teas.
I can still see in my memories, my younger daughter Anne at aged 2, sitting on the porch with me on warm summer evenings, sipping beebalm and mint tea with her own little cup. She always loved herbal teas and i still make a cup for her whenever she ask for some. I love their soothing and comforting taste.
Winter is almost here and i will miss my herb garden. Yesterday was very unusually warm and very windy. I love this weather. Could not help but spend some time outdoors and savor the moment. I unearthed my little rosemary bush, and repotted it, in the hopes that maybe it will survive the winter indoors. I tried once, but it sadly died. A friend of mine who owns a fabulous veggie garden told me she succeeded to keep hers for most of the winter. I thought i had nothing to lose in trying again, if i leave it ouside, it will die anyway.
If some of you, northern people, have some tricks to share on how to keep your rosemary inside, i would love to hear from you ♥

waking up at dawn

I woke up in the middle of the night with an eagerness to get up and set to work. But i reasoned myself and tried to get to sleep. Hubby rises up early so i thought soon as he leaves, i would start the day.
6:35am, got up, washed my face, lit up a fire, and prepared coffee ( I won't survive without a hot fresh mug ) Hummm, this is so good.
The house is still dark and very quiet. Outside the air is chilly, but i can see a tiny ray of light. The morning is waking up slowly.The trees ( or most of them ) sadly lost their leaves and the bare branches make a stark contrast against the early morning.

This is my favorite part of the day when all is still and barely waking up. I feel cozy inside in the warmth of the house, still wearing my flannel Pyjamas and writing a little good morning post as i sip my hot coffee and listen to the crackling of the fire.
I am not particularly fond of winters. Or maybe this is just because our summers are so short, i don't know. For the past couple days it has been very windy and i could almost smell the snow. I felt like a child awaiting excitedly for the first storm...I love sitting on the couch , knitting and watch a snowfall. I love winter cocooning. I am a homebody. Staying home makes me happy.
Today i have a lot of work. Last night i traced and cut many Muffinpies to be and other projects . It is going to be a busy and very exciting day. I lost many days of work during october. Mommy Maude and baby Jacob ( who is growing so fast )stayed here a couple more weeks, but now they have happily settled in their newly built house, which is practically in my backyard. Love my girl and little baby, but releived they finally moved out. I needed my space to get on with my work. She and her hubby stayed here almost 4 months. It was wonderful to have them with us, but i guess it was time they move. Besides, she is just a few yards away, we can visit anytime we wish.

This is a tiny piece of my studio you see. One day i will show you more of it, but not until i have it tidied up a bit. I tend to forget about cleaning up when i immersed myself in long hours of work. I love my working space. It is a large room with french doors that open on a little balcony.
But you'll have to be patient until i decide to show you.
Oh, the clock is ticking , guess i have to say goodbye til next time.

Halloween yummies !

Daughter Geneviève and myself tend to lose our minds when it comes to halloween. We love everything about it when Geneviève was still living home, we would carved many pumpkins to have enough for outdoors and indoors. I think if we were brave ( or insane ) we would still go trick or treat, just for the fun of wearing halloween costumes, ( the scary ones are the best ! ) admiring all the decorated houses and collecting yummy candy ( of course ) Geneviève has a lovely shop with some great halloween art dolls and card. Just a week old

Jacob is one whole week already. He is so cute and such a nice little baby. Daughter Maude met some problems the first few days with breast feeding, but all is going fine now and Jacob has a giant appetite. Already he seems to be changing. So cute and huggable ♥

Little Jacob is born

Little Jacob was born october 9th, a week before my daughter was due. All went quite well and my daughter Maude is recovering quickly. We are all very happy to welcome this little sweet boy in our family. Jacob is so sweet, my heart is melting each time i hold him in my arms or watch him sleep soundly. He smells so good, his skin is so soft, his fingers so tiny, but oh, sooo long. I can hear him as i am writing this, he is waking up, asking for his milk. My daughter and her hubby have been staying with us for the past 3 months. Their new house is almost ready, being constructed right behind ours. So that means i can see little Jacob whenever i want, that is really wonderful. This first week with the baby was quite hectic as i had to give some support. It did not give me much free time to work in my studio, but things are starting to get a bit better. Mommy Maude is having a chance to sleep a little more during the night. Oh, this brings me back to such happy and sometimes not so happy ( more desperate ) memories.
Later, as my little angel gets older, i will show you some more pictures, but for now, i will have to go back in my studio and get on with custom orders that need to be shipped soon.

I am on Prims magazine !

Last Spring, i was contacted by Prims Magazine and they wanted me to send them a few items to be juried. They chose Alfred Snowman and i was asked to write a little article that would appear in the october issue of Prims. I was so excited, how could i refuse such a fabulous opportunity ! I wrote the article, emailed it and waited the whole summer. I was feeling somewhat anxious, fearing i may not appear in the magazine, that they would forget about me.
But they did not forget and here it is ! I got my free copy this morning and i was so happy, i almost jumped like a little happy girl, right in the post office. Did not want to scare the old lady beside me. I had that stupid smile on my face and already she was eyeing me suspiciously. I ran outside and frantically began searching for a little piece of Alfred, somewhere in a corner of a page. To my surprise, there were 2 WHOLE pages dedicated for my Alfred ! I just looked and all i could say is Ooooo and Aaaaaa... The magazine itself is so beautiful, you really should go and grab a copy ! To make things even better, they contacted me, asking to submit another piece for their next issue coming out in April. Aaaarghhhh ! I have until november 15th to create something with a springy or summery theme.
OMG, i really must get to work. I still have no idea what i am going to make, but i will find something. Promise to show you when i am done.

Meet the Buttons family ♥

A couple of weeks ago, i created a new doll and decided to name her Lili-Buttons. She was sold in a matter of 30 minutes and a customer asked me if i could make another Lili-Buttons for her. ( I am working on it Fiona ! ) The idea of creating a tape with their name came from dear friend Rena who once asked me if i would make a custom doll for her and make a tape with the name Nina-Beans. So i did and then i thought "wouldn't it be nice if i could make some to embellish my Button doll's dresses?!"
Here are my three Buttons dolls, Philomena,Wilhemina and Leona-Buttons. They are actually listed in my shop if you want to get one for yourself.

Been busy all week trying to make some halloween themed muffinpie and managed to make those two and a little pumpkin. I was not too keen on making halloween stuff, but then i thought "come on girl, at leat make a couple things . "
Just listed them in my shop, but Ludivine, the red haired witchy Muffinpie is gone already. It took only 20 minutes from the time i listed her, 'til she was sold. Oh my, it means i may have to

sew up a bunch more. Ok... supper time and more muffinpies tonight.

Glorious Basil

Do you love basil ? That is not a question one would ask me. I litteraly drool as i pick fresh leaves in my garden. A friend even used to call me crazy basil lady. I have a tiny veggie patch, but i managed to save enough space to grow 2 rows of basil. Hubby says i got carried away. " you don't need so much, he says ". At my previous house where i lived for so many years, my garden was huge and the basil rows were even bigger. At one point, i grew 4 different varieties. Lemon basil, purple basil,the genoa kind and my all time favorite, leaf lettuce basil. The large, crinkled leaves, which grow on the short, wide plant, have a very strong licorice smell. I just love this herb in pasta or tomatoe and bocconcini salad. ( yummy ) Many years ago, when my daughter Geneviève was still living with us ( these were the happy times ) she found this recipe on the web and since then, it has been one of our favorite summer dish. We improved it and this is how it turned out.

In a large bowl add:

- A 796ml can of tomatoes ( or fresh tomatoes from the garden. Around 6 cups diced )
- 1/2 cup cold pressed olive oil ( I know, it looks like too much, but beleive me, it will be very tasty )
- 2 or more chopped garlic cloves
- At least 2 cups of cubed old cheddar cheese ( you can add mozarella if you prefer )
- 2 cups or more if you wish of fresh chopped basil ( the more the better )
salt and pepper to taste.

Cook spaghetti, enough for 4 to 5 portion, strain and add to your uncooked sauce in the bowl. Toss to mix and devour ! This is suppose to make plenty for a family of 4 or 5, but since this is sinfully delicious, two can easily eat the whole bowl !
Summer is nearing to its end and so is my veggie patch. I cannot complain, summer was wonderful and i had a plentiful crop. My basil is still growing strong, but i know it is just a matter of a week or 2 before the first fall frost will kill my crop.

Award and homework

Last week, my daughter awarded me with the versatile blog award and i meant to do my homework the next day, but as i am a very bad student, a whole week went on and homework remained undone . I deserve a D-i feel very honoured ( thanks sweetie, love you ! ), although i firmly beleive i do not deserve any award at all. I am a bad blogger and even though i have a tight, crazy schedule, i know deep inside myself, i can sit at least once a week for half an hour and give this blog a little more attention. I wish i were like some bloggers who always have something to tell, some pretty things to show and even though the posts are sometimes simple, they are fun and interesting to read. I love this kind of sharing and i sometimes feel a bit guilty, knowing some people come here regularly only to find that i have nothing to share. There are many stories i could tell you, but the words remain stuck inside my brain. I wish it were easy, but i have trouble to let the words flow. At school, i was a big zero when it came to write a composition. My brain froze...Ok, i am rambling.... Trying to escape from my homeworks...

So... first of all, i would like to thank my daughter Geneviève who gave me this award. She has a very lovely blog where you can read a little about her life in Brussels ( which is many, many miles from home and mommy...me ) and admire her beautiful art. Lately, she has been creating art dolls and each are one of a kind, absolutely gorgeous, lovable, huggable. I suggest you go take a peek and if you fall for one or all of them, visit her etsy shop . Lately, she listed a little mummy doll and some other halloween characters. I just love them all. Geneviève has such fantastic imagination.

1- I love windy days... I hate it when a day is hot and the air is still. Like today. :(
2-After a long day, i love to sit and share a good meal with my family and let's not forget...I good glass ( or 2 ) of red wine.

4-And olives...All kinds... I cannot stop myself once i start eating them. Although i know when to stop drinking wine. ^-^
5-I love to spend time by myself. I am a loner. Although i love being with my hubby and daughters.
6- I miss my daughter Geneviève. Everyday... Wish she would come back home one day.
7- I am a daydreamer. I always daydream about anything. I tell stories in my head. I think sometimes i am just a bit insane.

OH ! that's it ? I would have told more you know ? That was easy...Now the hardest part. I have to pass this award to 10 more bloggers. But like i said, since i am a bad student, i will choose only 4.

So many things i must finish today. The whole week has been very hot and humid and i lacked the energy to work on some Muffinpies i thought would be in the shop this past wednesday. There isn't much left to be done, but i was hoping to find some time today other than making muffinpies . My head is filled with new projects and i am so obsessed with them, so much, that i can't sleep at night. Even hubby kissed me goodbye before he left for work this morning and he said: " you did not sleep much, did you ? you have too many things going on in your mind. "
he knows me...^-^

Ok, now i must get in touch with those sweet ladies and let them know it is their turn to make homework. ( teeheee )
And then off to work...

New art doll... and a busy schedule

Now that my sailing vacation is over, i am happily returning in my studio. Oh, how i missed you !
I cannot complain, my summer was spent relaxing, sailing, diving in the lake, or in the pool when at home, indulging in pastas garnished with homegrown fresh basil, ( love basil ) cycling through the countryside, reading, knitting... My soul is replenished, i have a lovely tan and my hair and eyebrows got so pale, hubby says i look like an albinos. " where are your eyebrows ? " he said as we were having lunch in the cockpit of our sailboat. Pff ! He loves teasing. Told him;" least i ain't got no gray hair yet, your head is covered in gray. " ( smiles ) we love to tease each other. We spent a whole month he and I, together the whole time. We rarely argue, never fight. I'd rather let him win anyway to prevent fights . Need to spend my energy on more important stuff. Besides, hubby is always such a good humored guy, can't be mad at him for very long.
This past week was very quiet, him returning to work and me spending my days in my studio, sewing and painting new dolls. I sold Bertha, my first painted doll and wanted to make some more. I did not have my teacher with me and felt a bit panicky when i started painting the facial features, but i finally managed to create a funny little boy i named Carlos. The day after came Svetlana, a little russian girl ( daughter said she looked russian ). I just listed them in my shop today and am a bit anxious to see if i'll get some nice feedback on them. At least, i had fun doing them and will make more when i get some free time. Next week, i must work on some custom orders and start thinking about doing things with a halloween and winter or christmas theme. I would be really happy if you left me some honest comments on Svetlana and Carlos. I don't mind negative feedbacks, i do not consider myself as an artist like my daughter Geneviève. Oh, by the way, she has been busy all summer doing some art doll too, check these out !Now , aren't they sweet ?!? She even made some halloween themed art dolls, absolutely crazy. But to see them, take a peek at her lovely blog ( link above that says teacher ) and do leave your comments ) she would love to hear from you. Well, the week end is here and i must start packing. Hubby wants to spend the week end sailing. Summer is short in Canada and the sailing season is almost nearing to its end, it makes hubby feeling a bit sad and grumpy. So even though i would rather stay home and lock myself in my studio, i must make some compromises and follow him.
Will post some more next week. So many things i want to tell ya !

I am just taking a breather to let you know my daughter Geneviève is having a super giveaway! Visit her blog and leave a comment to win her lovely pendant. I am now off to the pool, been away all day spending my money ( or hubby's ) in new summer clothing. My look was getting critical and i had no choice but to drag myself to the big shopping center. I was happy though 'cause i found most of my stuff at Zara's, cute and simple things. Ok, i must really head for the pool, the air is suffocating and my cat seem to tell me my body smell is ....
Tomorrow i am leaving for most of the week, hubby is on vacation and we will be sailing and staying at the marina for the most part of next week. I am going to miss my home and my studio, but taking some time off, just relaxing, reading and knitting will do me good.

I haven't been around much for the past 2 weeks. Hubby decided to take some time off and go sailing. We have had this sailboat for 6 years now and every summer we sail on beautiful lake St-Francis which is about an hour drive from home. It stays anchored in a marina the whole summer and every week end ( weather permitting ) we pack and head for the lake. I call it my little retreat, a place where i can relax, forget about everyday responsibilities and indulge in some swimming and sunbathing. I am not much of a sunbather, i get my nice summer tan rather by spending so much time outdoors. We always bring our bicycles and love to explore the surrounding countryside when the day is not windy. We found a place where we could go strawberry picking and we ate more than we picked.Oh my gosh, they were so juicy and sweet, i would have spent the whole day there, just eating and picking. I must go back and pick some more, i am craving to bake a warm strawberry pie. hubby nearly had to drag me off the patch. ( so sad ) We came back home on monday, because hubby knows i need to work in my studio. I miss it sometimes, even if i love being at the lake. I made a bunch of Muffinpies and will probably bring some work with me when we leave again on thursday. Hubby is going back to work next tuesday and will have another 4 weeks off starting later in July. I expect we will spend a lot of time away from home, but i shall try and come say hello to my blogging friends from time to time.

About a year ago, one smart girl commented in my blog and told me " i see potentials in those little dolls ". Ideas started flowing in my head and the Muffinpies were born. Today is a beautiful sunny day. And today is my BIRTHDAY ...Nope, i won't tell how old i am...ummm, ok, why not, it is just a number after all. I am still young and crazy in my heart...Well, i just turned 50...I looked in the mirror and saw no difference. So why worry ?And i proudly told hubby who is 4 years younger, " at least, i don't have one single grey hair , and you do. " He says it is ok for him to have grey hair, it is part of his charm. He also says he looks just as handsome as George Clooney. ( rolled my eyes )

Countryside walks

May is such a wonderful month. Everything is so fresh, so new, everything smells so good. I love going out for evening walks. When the sun is still shining but not so hot. I live in the country. I don't think i could ever live elsewhere. Unless i could live on the seashore. I love summer. I wish it were like that...always...But i live in a country where summers are short, winters neverending and cold.

Yesterday, after eating diner out on the terrace with hubby and my younger daughter Anne, we headed for the fields and walked many miles, enjoying the beautiful temperature. Walking in the countryside is different. i loved smelling the grass and the huge lilac bushes, i loved admiring the view, meeting unexpected friends and stepping into unexpected places too. It is a good thing i wore my old running shoes. There was this small puddle of mud and i tried to jump over, but with my little legs, both feet landed right in the middle of the mud puddle. (smiles) my daughter calls me Hobbit, cause i am so small. Felt like a child, covered in dirt, sunburn on my shoulders, but so happy. I remember as a little girl, my mom kept washing my running shoes in the washing machine. I guess i always loved mud puddles. After our walk, had to take a shower to take all that mud off my legs. Some of you must be wondering what this picture of twigs represents ? Well, as we were having dinner on the terrace, there was this cute little bird perched on my clothesline. It kept going in the nearby bushes and come back on the clothesline. I did not pay too much attention to it's little game. Later, as i took the clothes off the line, i was folding a pair of jeans and those little twigs, spilled on the balcony floor. I felt puzzled, until it flashed in my mind. The little bird, had been so busy building it's nest inside the jeans hanging on the line. I smiled, amazed, but then felt sad and guilty that i had destroyed the little bird's nest. I kept wondering why the little bird had chosen this pair of jeans...
This friday, it is going to be my birthday. For this special day, i will be doing a giveaway. I really hope a lot of you reading my blog will come and join the fun.

A little collection of Anna's tape

A couple of weeks ago, i bought some tapes from lovely Anna. She was a couple sales away from 3,000 and i was so excited, i could not help buy the couple missing so she would wake up the next day and see the wonderful news. It must be very rewarding to see how people love your work so much. Although i have nothing to complain about, my little shop is doing very well and i feel very grateful to all my loyal fans. Many many thanks to all of you my sweet ladies.
Anna, who is one of the most kind and generous person i have met so far, included a wonderful surprise along with the tapes i bought. I was so touched by such generosity . It is hard to express one's feeling through simple words, although i must say little handmade items like these mean more to me than luxuries i don't need . Gifts made with love are treasures we must cherish. My mom taught me that. I come from a very large family and times were sometimes rough for my parents, but my mom always find a way to make things that we kids, would enjoy. We understood quickly there was much love in all the things she made for us. She was an artist... So dearest Anna, i am sending you many thanks filled with love.
I wish you all my lovelies, a very happy friday filled with joy and peacefulness . Enjoy the beauty of the May season. It smells so good outside. ♥

Butterflies

When my daughter Genevieve was home visiting, we packed a picnic and head for Montreal 's botanical garden to see the butterflies. Each year, for almost 2 months, their greenhouse is alive with butterflies of all species. This event attracts many people and professional photographers. Felt a bit cheap with my little 100$ digital pocket camera. Nevertheless, i managed to take some beautiful pictures. Butterflies are such wonderful insects. I was observing my daughters, my hubby and even the people around us and i smiled to see how we all marveled at their beauty.

It was a wonderful day that i will cherish in my heart for a long time.

I woke up early this morning in an empty house. Hubby went back to work and my dearest daughter Geneviève who came to visit went back to Brussels. It was so wonderful having her with us and it was a very painful moment when we had to take her to the airport on tuesday evening. I miss her already and i just can't help crying. I know she won't be happy to read this, she hates tears. Sorry Gen, I can't help it, they just keep pouring down. It is a blessing i have so much work, custom orders to make and more muffinpies to put in my shop. They disappear as soon as i list them. Today i am going to work all day in my studio... For me it is one of the best therapy.

Days, fly by so fast and i am trying to make the most of my time spent with my daughter. Tomorrow we are going on a shopping spree and i think it is going to be a lot of fun. I had made several new Muffinpies to list in my shop and i wanted to list them today, as we decided to make it a quiet afternoon. Geneviève is watching television as i am posting this. After that, i think we are going to have some tea together before hubby comes back from work. All of my new Muffinpies are listed without a bunny or teddy. On march 31st, this coming wednesday, my wonderful daughter Geneviève is coming home ! She is not coming for good, sadly for me and daddy. But we haven't seen her for 2 years and having her around for 21 days will be wonderful ! Daddy and I have been quite busy all week end long having a room freshly painted and decorated to make a cozy and comfy room for her to snooze and hide from daddy when she can't take no more of his constant cuddles and kisses. :) I am very excited and happy, but HE is almost hysterical ! ( smiles )
I won't be here much during those 3 weeks, but will try to drop in and say hello at least once.

Lovely and touching

A couple weeks ago , a lovely lady from the UK contacted me asking if she could buy a little muffinpie for her little girl. We made arrangements and she chose Marion, because the doll reminded her of her little sweetpea ( this is how she calls her child Esme) Esme had to give up on her dummy and it was a painful moment to let go of something she really loved. Then she got sick and mommy thought sweetpea needed some comforting. Marion arrived this week after a long journey and she and Esme have become very close friends. I will let you read the whole wonderful, touching story by visiting Zoe's blog.
This is one of those story that make you laugh and cry at the same time. I was very touched, knowing that i had brought joy to a little girl's heart. Take a moment to visit Zoe and Esme's little world. Zoe makes delicious muffins too ♥

Little Teddy Bear

Between doing major renovations of the kitchen all week end long and trying to keep the house clean, i managed to create this little needlefelted teddy. I am very new at this, i had never needlefelted before, but it is something i have wanted to try for a very long time. I made a little bunny last week for little Penny Muffinpie and it wasso much fun creating that cute bunny. I want to make more bunnies and teddies and who knows, more cute and huggable critters. This one measures no more than 5 1/2 inches. A cute and cuddly friend for a child to hide in a pocket.

I will probably list my little teddy as it is in my etsy shop sometimes today or tomorrow. Hubby is still home for the day and we will be working in the kitchen, so i am not sure i will have the time to come back and sit by the computer. Keep your eyes open for more of these later on this week.

Penny and her Bunny

Penny is getting ready for spring and Easter. Now that the weather is warming up, the snow melting, the birds chirping happily, Penny decided to trade her winter scarf for her softer, pretty light green scarflette. She is all excited to go out and play with her new bunny i made for her. I promised her if she behaved, i would hide some easter eggs outside so she could go egg hunting, her favorite pastime. Well..........She is gone ! I never thought it would happen so quickly, but Penny was adopted about 30 minutes later after i added her in my shop. I am now to almost 100 sales ! Muffinpiemania !

I just listed more Muffinpies about an hour ago. Inga was gone within the first hour. She has been adopted by lovely Scottie of Tiddlywinks. Visit her lovely shop, her world is absolutely adorable !
I gave Inge a different look and i am very pleased with the results. Do you think i should be making more muffinpies with little tunics and pants ? What do you think of the little scarflette ? Are you more scarf or scarflette ? I am very open to new suggestion. Let me know of them please ?
The clock is ticking towards dinner time and my belly is making noises, time for me to feed it. Hubby is not here tonight. The windis blowing hard and it is still snowing. Those Hydro linemen are very busy. He called telling me he wontbe home til 10pm...maybe... so i guess i'll go for leftovers and get back in my studio and do some more sewing.

Granny to be...

I knew it was just a matter of time, for years she had been yearning to become a mommy...Last week we received a call from my daughter Maude. Her voice on the phone was very excited when she told us " that's it ! i am pregnant !! ".... Oh my gosh, i am going to be a granny i thought ...Am i happy ? Considering the picture you see here, it doesn't look so. (laughs)

Of course i am happy !!! Who wouldn't be happy by such wonderful news ?
Maude will turn 24 in april, but as long as i can remember, she wanted to be a mom. So as soon as she graduated from university last year, she went on with her plan. She is a very determined person, when she decides she wants something, she gets it. Along with her boyfriend, she bought her first house while she was still studying at university. Last year they bought a lot behind our house and they will probably start building their new house this summer. It is wonderful, knowing our daughter will live next to us. My first daughter Geneviève ( She and Maude are only 11 months apart ) is studying abroad in Brussels and i miss her everyday. We still have young Anne ( 18 ) living with us, thank God. I hope she wont leave soon, i want to keep her close to me a little bit more. Awww, mommies whatever age the youngest is, we still consider them our little baby. Anyways, can you imagine ?!? I am going to be a granny ? I am so very excited! After i gave birth to my 3rd daughter, hubby ran to the doctor to have his " thing " fixed. :) Was scared i would make more babies. That would have been probably the case. I was very sad, knowing Anne would be my last child. I wished i had 4 or 5. Being a grandmother has its privileges though . And i am lucky my daughter will be so close by. I will have the opportunity to see and love that little thing anytime i want. I am already thinking of all the knitting and sewing projects i want to make. If some of you have some great links on knitting and sewing babies clothes, i would love it if you could share some of them.
I can't wait to show you some pics of my daughter's growing belly. But that will take some time. Baby is due only in mid-october. I'll keep you posted with more details of her pregnancy.

Arrrgh ! I must be completely stupid, am i missing something or what?! That random generator doesn't work. I copied and paste the code, generated and had a number drawn, but it won't show as i published. So ladies, let's forget this generator. I must be honest though and let you know the number that came out was # 2. So congrats to Ulla V. i will have your little goodies packed nicely and shipped to you as soon as possible.

Pink and Red Giveaway ♥

I find our Winter particularly difficult this year, even though there isn't much snow and even though January has been unusually mild. People were hoping the weather would stay that way, but i knew a cold spell would eventually come. Since this past friday, we had temperatures dropping down to -30c. How easily we tend to forget how fiercely cold our winters can be. Today, it is a mild -15c, so we try to cheer up, thinking spring is not so far away.

So !

To beat the winter blahs, i thought it would be appropriate to make a cheery giveaway. I love mixes of pinks and reds, so for the past few days i decided to sew these little lovelies and give them away. In your package, you will receive a little Matryoshka doll, all dressed up in pinks and reds, a cute red and pink heart made with japanese fabric and filled with lavender, some coasters made from pink gingham and natural linen and a little cherry patterned little bag to hold all your goodies. I have been cleaning up the house, putting away christmas decorations, trying to make my studio a decent living area and did some knitting too. I miss knitting, i am always so busy that i find it difficult to find time and just knit. i could spend a whole day doing just that. But i haven't been much in my studio in the past 2 weeks and now that the holidays are over, i must go back to sewing and make new projects. Of course, there is more Muffinpies on the list, but i have this need to create new things. My head is buzzing and i spend my nights, eyes wide open, thinking of all the things i want to accomplish in one single day. It is an impossible task, too much in my mind. Have to make a list and start from top to bottom. I have this bad habit of jumping from one thing to the next. Today, i must do some painting, yuk ! Hubby build a beautiful island ( can we say that in english ? ) and i want to paint it a creamy white. It is a big square counter with big drawers on one side and a place to sit on the other. i just love it and i have lots of working space for cooking. I will have to show you when it is all done. I guess i have to start the painting now, cause the clock is ticking and i want to sew, i want to knit, i want to cook... Oh boy....

I want to take a little moment and wish everyone a very merry christmas. The year went by so quickly, another christmas is here and this time hubby did not have to go away from home. We saw on the news that the east coast of the US had been hit by a huge snowstorm and i crossed my fingers that Hydro Quebec would not have to leave again. I am just finishing wrapping and knitting last minute gifts and will bake some more cookies( gingerbread, crakles and shortbread) this afternoon. Thursday, the girls will be home with me, making doughnuts and sweet breads. I think Christmas Eve is the moment i prefer. After a whole day of baking, the girls will run to their rooms and unwrap their new jammies ( me too ! ) and we will sit in the living room eating goodies, playing games or watching a christmas movie. I love this cozy happy moment admiring our tree and listening to the crackling of the fire in the fireplace.
I hope you will all spend a wonderful time with your loved ones. Savor every moment.

I had my christmas craft event on december 6th and it went well and i am releived it is all over. I realize i have been working harder than i thought and many dolls and goodies are left in my sewing room, waiting to be adopted by someone who's heart will melt for one of them. I listed of few items in my shop
and some were gone quickly. I still have some wonderful linen bags i made, they were really fun to make and i have new ideas for Valentine and even spring and summer bags. Those 2 are more christmassy and i kept one for myself and filled it with pinecones, berries and fir sprigs. It looks very lovely.
I feel a little bit embarrassed and sad to tell you that i with my busy schedule, i did not take the time to make my x-mas giveaway. I meant to make one, i know i had mentionned about it to many of you and i want to apologize. I wish i had been more organize and find some free time, to make a really special christmas giveaway, but my free time was so scarse and i was so tired i barely had the energy to get ready on time for my craft event. I can not promise you, but i would really love to make one sometimes in january. I will keep you posted with the details.

I hope you are having a great time getting ready for christmas. Yesterday, it was snowing again and i baked some cookies while listening to my christmas music and i thought, winter and snowy days were not so bad after all.
