On the spotlight !
I have been creating new doll ideas to sew so i can put them up for sale on my etsy shop. I haven't done much in january and i had to push myself to work because i am neglecting everything. I think i have the winter blues. Winters are much too long here and the past week has been very cold. I am starting to long for spring to come. But i know, i have to be patient because spring won't be here for another two months. So i guess i have to take advantage of the cold weather and work in my studio as much as possible. I know too well that when spring is here and the flowers start to grow, i will spend most of my time in my garden. Today i had a good news. I was surfing on etsy and and saw to my surprise and article on Storque with a picture of one of my dolls ! Yes ! the article's title " a very rustic valentine's day " suggest handmade rustic items from different artists. There are different artists featured in the article and that is great for everybody, but the great thing is, they chose one of my raggedies as the fronty page! I am so happy and proud ! Ok, now that means that i have to work even harder and offer more beautiful dolls and other stuff. So gotta go to work ! Gosh, so many things i want to do !

cocooning on a freezy rainy day
I know i should be working on some new ideas to put up for sale in my Etsy shop, but today, with this freezing rain and gloomy day, I just feel the urge to sit by the fire and knit. It is sad to see all this rain pouring and melting all the lovely snow away. We were hit by a big storm just before christmas and it was really wonderful ! I went cross country skiing last saturday and it was breathtaking ! There was a gentle snow falling on my cheeks and everything was so silent, so still, so perfect. The scenery has a very different mood now. Rather depressing. I am hoping for another snow storm so i can go back skiing again. But for the time being, this bad weather calls for cocooning near the fire. I love sitting on my comfy chair near the wood stove and watch the dancing flames as i knit contentedly. I am actually working on my fan and feather comfort shawl, which i hope will be done soon. I am using a self striping yarn I bought at a very cheap price, but it does the job. I did not want to invest too much as this is my very first shawl and i am still very novice. If i feel brave enough to knit a second one, i will chose a more luscious yarn. By th way, i just received a new stah of yarn through the mail. I bought it from an Ebay seller and the price was really really good. The yarn is buenalana from Uruguay. It is not dyed and that is just perfect because i intend to do it myself. I found on knitty how to dye natural fibers with kool aid ! I can't wait to give it a try and see the results. Well, well, i think it is time to go back to my knitting and perhaps thinking of exchanging my pyjamas i am still wearing ( it is 2pm ) for a pair of jeans. I should be ashamed, what a lazy girl !
Happy knitting to all knitter addicts !

going back to the " normal life "
Christmas is finally and sadly over. With a little reluctance, I decided to take the christmas tree down this monday. I always disliked this time of year, where we have to shake ourselves up and go back to the normal life. This christmas was particurlarly special, because my daughter Geneviève ( Visit her Etsy shop ! ) came home for the holidays. She left us last year to study art history in Brussels, Belgium. We had not seen her in more than a whole year. So having her with us was a celebration ! Time flew by so rapidly, she is already gone and the house felt so empty after her departure. I find consolation with the internet. This is such a fabulous invention ! I can see her on a regular basis with the computer cam and talk to her as long as I wish without ruining myself. Parents in years past were not so lucky. Telephone and the postal service was the only communication.
I just opened my Etsy shop yesterday. It was something I wanted to do for quite a while, but I had been so busy 'til now. I have several dolls for sale at the moment, but I have other ideas other than dolls I want to put in my shop. I am so excited about all the projects I have in mind, I just don't know where to start. I guess I will have to write down a wish list and do the things I prefer the most first. I will keep you posted of all the new stuff I will be adding in my shop.
