Getting ready for Halloween

Now that summer is coming to an end, i must roll up my sleeves and get ready for Halloween ! I just love Halloween, just as much as i do love Christmas. Fall is a wonderful season as nature unfolds her colorful beauty. It is also a special moment to spend with family picnicking and apple and pumpkin picking. I love cooking comfort food and canning vegetables, making relishes, i love decorating my porch with all sorts of pumpkins and i especially love to sew a batch of Halloween witches, pumpkin dolls and the like. I do have some pictures here of things i did already, but my head is overflowing with new ideas and i spent all week sketching, taking notes and foraging in my stash of fabrics and see what can be used for all my projects. I won't tell anything as to what i want to create, but i promise i will post everything as soon as i have some stuff ready to show. Each fall, around thanksgiving ( canadian thanksgiving ) i pack my Halloween newbies and head for Finnigan's flea market. It is quite a fabulous place where many crafters gather and you can find antiques, vintage stuff, home bake goods, fresh and dried flowers and so much more. The atmosphere is really pleasant and i always meet friendly people. It is also a great opportunity to enlarge my clientele. I do hope to work hard and fast enough to put some up for sale on my etsy
I have a few things already, as you can see by the pictures, but i would really, really want to put some of my new creations as well... Only time will tell. As long as i work seriously. I can be a hard worker when things need to be done, the problem is trying to find the time for myself. With a family and a house to care for, sometimes it can get pretty hectic. But in the end, i do get things ready and it is always such a great feeling when you see
So i guess i must end this post right this moment if i want to make the most of my day. Minutes fly and i don't want to lose any more of them...Well, not that i am really losing time here, i just love spending my mornings writing on my blog, reading those i love to visit and finding new ones. I think i could spend a whole day doing that. Well, i promise to treat myself some other time.

Well, 'til nexttime my dear friends, enjoy every minute of your day !

beautiness in it's simplicity

I was having my morning coffee and exploring blogs, one of my favorite time of the day. I discovered new ones, so beautiful and had to add them on my favorite list. I previously posted before about this EXQUISITE website, Raised in cotton and i have to post again. This talented lady has not only a beautiful blog , but also a gorgeous shop where you can feast your eyes on ! Simpleness at it's best ! I particurlarly love this lovely linen table runner. I have many ideas in my mind as to it's usefullness. I had to blog a little note on her marvelous shop so i will remind myself to visit her more frequently.

But it is worth the visit.

pincushions

I have been making some cute pincushions this summer and i
will probably put some of them up for sale on my etsy sometimes
tomorrow if time permits. My daughter Anne has just started her

first day of college and i had to drive her there. She just got her driver's license a few days ago and was too nervous to go to an " alien " city on her own. Mind you, i think i was just as nervous. I just hate traffic and oneway streets, something we are not too familiar with. Our small country town is not exactly a scarry place to drive. Yeah, well, sure we go places, i suppose it is just a matter of getting to know our way around. She'll get around easily aftera few stressfull days. So here are some pictures i took in this chilly morning. I do hope they did come out ok...

They are not so beautiful as many i did see on some beautiful blogs, but i guess
they are kinda cute.

I tend to be strict with myself and have trouble finding complete satisfaction
with the things i do. I have this terrible habit of comparing my stuff

with others and sometimes it's not good. I guess it is a necessery thing
to be strict with our work, but we have to find some satisfaction
as well. I do love doing what i do, i am just pursuing perfectness.

Although, when you think one moment, it is the little imperfections that
makes things a little more beautiful... Am i right ? Hope you find
some enjoyments with these pictures anyway...

nostalgic memories of summer

August is running so quickly towards september and here in my Quebec country, we can already feel the changing of the season. I am up early, it is barely 7am, but i want to make the most of the last few days i have left before i return back to work. I feel a little nostalgic, summer went by in a flash. Today, the sun is shining and the sky is blue and pure, such a rarety in this year's rainy and stormy summer. In fact, i think the forecast was calling for some more rain today...Anyway, as i was saying, the weather is changing slowly, i smell it, i can see how the light is different. And at this early time of the morning, the dew is thick and the air is fresh. i had to keep my windows closed and decided i needed to put my oooh so soft knitted socks i made during my vacation. They are so comfy and they keep my little feet so warm. ( yes, i do have little feet, my hubby even tells me my toes look like jelly beans. ) In a few weeks i know i will have to start using the wood stove to warm the kitchen in the early chilly mornings. But that is a comfort thought. I like the smell of the wood burning and crackling and i feel content to just sit and knit near in the quietness of the early morning. Soon fall will unfurl her beautiful colors and it will be time for apple picking, and cooking comfort food and thinking of halloween. My fingers are already itching for some crafting ideas i want to make. As much as i love the fall season, summer remains my favorite time of the year. I have fond thoughts and fresh memories of my vacation in Cape Cod i spent with my family a few weeks ago. It was too short a stay, but it was wonderful ! We were lucky to find a quaint little cottage with a gorgeous view of the ocean. I just loved sitting outside after a long day at the beach and knit with one of my daughters as we would listen to the gentle sound of the waves and look at the long grass dancing in the wind. We spent most of our days going to South Beach near Chatham ( for those of you who know the area ) and to me, South Beach is a must see and one of the most beautiful places i have ever seen.

You can walk for miles and not see a soul except for a few curious seals who like to follow and observe you from a short distance. They come close enough for you to admire them, but they are a bit shy if you try to come too close. I love talking long walks, trying to find some treasures. I was hoping for some rare rare sea glass, but my hunt was not successful. Although i came back home with a nice collection of shells and pieces of driftwood. I just love how the wood turned a beautiful washed grey color. And my hubby even found 2 beautifully intact sand dollars ! That really made my day ! I am always amazed at those little wonders nature creates...I was born on the east coast of Canada and i always feel strong emotions each time we come to Cape Cod. I remember spending many summers at my grandmother's who lived in a little village by the sea.

Oh, these were the best times. Such fond memories resurfaced and i felt nostalgic. I would spend the rest of my life here, living in a tiny house by the sea. Oh well, as they say, good things always come to an end and after a memorable week, we had to head back home, our hearts filled with happy memories we can never forget.

************* Goodbye Cape Cod, we miss you already ******************
